United Way of Pioneer Valley (UWPV) partnered with the Hampden County Sherriff’s Office and other agencies to host a food drive throughout Holyoke. The drive took place on Saturday, December 9th from 10am-4pm, with donation locations at:
Stop & Shop 28 Lincoln St. Holyoke, MA 01040
Stop & Shop 2265 Northampton St. Holyoke, MA 01040
Mont Marie Rehab Center 36 Lower Westfield Rd. Holyoke, MA 01040
The food drive supported the Holyoke Community Cupboard, a food pantry operated by the United Way of Pioneer Valley at Holyoke Community College’s Culinary Arts Institute. Food and cash donations will support UWPV in its work to promote greater food security and support healthy living throughout the greater Holyoke area.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the support of so many organizations and community members from Holyoke. We are incredibly grateful for their spirit of caring and dedication to supporting our work” said Megan Moynihan, CEO and President of UWPV. Some of the agencies partnering on the event included: Holyoke Fire Department, Holyoke Police Department, Holyoke Community College, Mont Marie, Holyoke Kiwanis, Stop & Shop, Greater Holyoke YMCA, Holyoke Medical Center, Holyoke Public Schools, Gary Rome, JBI Interiors, Conklin Furniture, Dowd Insurance, Day Brook Village Senior Living, Armbrook Village, Brightside, Prosper at Monastery Heights and the Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative.
We are asking for donations of the following items: Canned potatoes, Onion powder, Garlic powder, Instant potatoes, Canned carrots, Stuffing, Canned peas, Cereal, Breakfast bars, Children’s snacks, Salt and pepper, Parsley, Spices and mixes, Broths and bouillon cubes, Mayo, Ketchup, Mustard, Can openers, Cooking and eating utensils, Child safe cooking and eating utensils.
The HCC pantry opened in November of 2023 and is open Thursdays 2:30-5:30 for anyone seeking support.
