Community Engagement Manager
The function of this position is to manage volunteer programming, cultivate opportunities throughout the Pioneer Valley and provide corporate teams and individuals with volunteer experiences in their respective communities. Building relationships with both corporate and community volunteers, the manager will also interact with all functional areas of the organization to support the following:
- Volunteer matching, placement, and support between agency and corporate partners
- Volunteer recruitment and onboarding process
- Logistics and planning for volunteer-focused events, such as “Day of Caring”
The hiring range for this position is $48,000 – $55,000 annually
Essential Functions
- Work with the Senior Director of Community Impact to develop, implement and grow volunteer programming at UWPV and through UWPV’s volunteer initiative: VolunteerConnect
- Assist in documentation, data collection and data entry for programs
- Assist in outreach across the Pioneer Valley including speaking engagements, tabling, community events and presentations
- Responsible for VolunteerConnect portal website upkeep and maintenance
- Assist in marketing of volunteer programs through social media and other avenues
- Responsible for purchase and inventory for onsite volunteer opportunities
- Assist in the facilitation of volunteer events on site and at other organizations
- Assist in planning, scheduling, implementation and feedback of large-scale events such as Stuff the Bus and Days of Caring
- Recruit volunteers for UWPV and other nonprofits
- Capture feedback and data from volunteer events
- Identify new grants and assist in grant reporting
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equally equivalent educational experience
Experience
- Experience in volunteer management, community engagement or nonprofit management or programs a must
- Experience with data collection, data entry and CRMs
- Event planning/management experience
Skills
- Extremely good organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours for community events
- Understanding of the local community, and lived experience in the communities we serve a plus
- Excellent communication and public speaking/presentation skills
- Genuine interest in volunteerism and human service
- Collaborative and able to function well in a team setting as well as individually
- Deep understanding of UWPV’s mission and able to uphold our core values
Physical Demands of Job
- Exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, within the office setting and relating to the position
- Must frequently use typical office equipment (telephone, multifunctional devices, postage meter, etc.)
- Communicates with constituents, staff, volunteers, board members and/or partners by phone and in person
- Will have to travel to offsite locations
Work Environment
- Primarily works in a climate-controlled office based setting
