Volunteerism

Volunteers during United Way's Day of Caring

Volunteerism is at the very heart of our mission.

From the pantry to the boardroom, we leverage our unique position as a community connector to promote and expand volunteer opportunities throughout the Pioneer Valley. In this way, we build the capacity of our local nonprofit organizations together, united by our shared determination to help others and strengthen our communities.

VolunteerConnect is United Way’s volunteerism program, comprised of engaging, useful, and relevant activities in a variety of mediums.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Our redesigned Volunteer Portal is LIVE! This is where nonprofit organizations from across the Pioneer Valley post their open volunteer positions.

Volunteer Events

UWPV hosts several annual events that are powered by volunteers, including Day of Caring and Stuff the Bus. To learn more about these events and how to get involved, please visit our Signature Events page.

Board-level Volunteer Engagement

OnBoard is a volunteer leadership development program that includes an annual Board-level volunteer matching event. More information about this program can be found at the OnBoard page.

Remote Volunteering Opportunities

Are you looking to give your employees a volunteer opportunity that is convenient, in the office, and will also greatly benefit the community? UWPV has connected with local nonprofits and asked for kits that are needed throughout the year. Companies can choose whatever kit or combination of kits they would like to pack and the nonprofit they would like to support, UWPV does the rest!

How it works:

  1. Choose which kit packing opportunity you would like to host, and the number of kits you would like to make. If you don’t have a preference, contact UWPV and we can direct you to the area of most need. Note, you can choose as many as you want!
  2. UWPV will coordinate with you the date and time for your event.
  3. UWPV will purchase all the items in correct quantities, shipping and packing materials and have them delivered to UWPV.
  4. On the day of the event we will bring all the materials to your offices, set up the packing event and stay on site while your employees pack.
  5. We will have a representative from the organization you are supporting on site as well to talk to your employees about the impact.
  6. We will package and ship everything to the nonprofit(s) once the packing is done.
  7. UWPV will send the company pictures and impact data once event is over.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Provide a space for the event and market event to employees
  • Cost of supplies – UWPV will invoice after purchasing
  • $1000 service fee for UWPV to coordinate, facilitate, and provide impact data about the event
